Welcome to the final part of the 300th episode of PodCulture!

To start us off, Brad adds up the total hours of geekness over the past years. Everyone speaks on some of their favorite moments over the past 300 episodes.

We come back with some pre-holiday Geek and Tell! Glenn is excited about getting his first Android phone, the HTC Amaze. He mentions some of the cool camera features it has. Adam compares it to his Motorola Photon. Brad and Christina helped Brad’s step-mom pick a phone for his little sister, and settled on a Droid Incredible 2. Brad picked up his own piece of Android tech in a Nook Tablet and shares some of his favorite perks. Glenn is anticipating the Asus Transformer Prime. Instead of one for Carly, he bought her up a Kindle Fire.

Brad opens a very special package from Decal Mike, to be opened on our 300 episode. It is a giant, gorgeous decal to commemorate our anniversary. The shiny silver and gold decal is simply the finest present! Thank you!

The gang’s all back for a giant Geek Cuisine! Welcome back Andy, Nick, Richard and Justin! Christina provides the chocolatey goodness this week with Oreo Cookie Bark. She followed the recipe on the Nabisco website, so if it sounds good, go for it!

In closing, the crew discusses the things that have come and gone over the course of three hundred episodes. Glenn is looking forward to playing the new Battlefield 3 downloadable content, while Brad is excited about the Dead Island add-ons. Brad is apprehensively excited about the over-the-top Lollipop Chainsaw. Glenn shares a bit about the debate between he and Adam Baldwin on Twitter. Brad had a geek squad moment with Patricia Tallman in Tweets. Have you had a brush with someone famous on Twitter? Let us know! Adam entreats us all to have or plan an adventure and then play Star Wars The Old Republic. Christina wishes everyone a happy holiday season. Brad thanks the listeners for taking the time to listen to this quartet of quirk every week!

Our music this week includes One Damn Lane by Tony Goldmark and Arcade Gaming Shrine by Palette-Swap Ninja. Special thanks to The Critical Myth Podcast for their promo.

Many thanks to Audible.com. As a PodCulture listener, if you click the above, you can enjoy two weeks to explore the over 85,000 audio book titles and choose one to download for free! Tons of exciting genres and thousands of brilliant voice actors are yours to experience. Click, explore and download in minutes, it’s easy and it’s free.

Welcome back to part B of the 300th episode of PodCulture!

Glenn laments the fact that lots of the shows are on hiatus, but we’re all watching Grimm. He is glad the Powers That Be will be moving it, so it will no longer be up against Supernatural. Christina enjoys figuring out the literary counterparts to each episode. On the sunnier side of the storybook, they gang is enjoying Once Upon A Time. Still, the geek, Christina is playing “spot the Disney in-joke”. Brad is hoping Snow White gets better hair, but everyone is creeped out by Robert Carlisle. Adam has been watching Supernatural and Community. He is extremely nervous about the fate of his favorite band of students. Adam is also nearly finished with the unlikely favorite Friday Night Lights, and has finished up Homeland. He didn’t expect to enjoy Rise of The Planet Of The Apes as much as he did. Brad takes a moment to play Name That Tune with cheesy tv theme songs on his phone, while Glenn explains about Electro Woman and Dyna Girl. Christina and Glenn debate whether or not the tv-themeless trend is good. Christina is still loving New Girl. Her new love this week is Gareth Malone, after having watched Gareth Malone Goes To Glyndebourne. Brad is sad that Chuck’s stars have been tweeting their wrapping the series. They’re all still watching The Big Bang Theory, and have stuck their toes in the Thundercats litterbox. The parallels between Lost and Hawaii Five-O are made again. Terra Nova is growing on everyone. Tis the season for Christmas specials, and we loved sharing the season with Haven, Warehouse 13 and Eureka. Glenn is looking forward to Face Off returning, while Brad and Christina have enjoyed the preview episode of the new Green Lantern animated series. Adam helps Brad find the Nerf gun that the weapons from Terra Nova are based on.

Kraft Jet-Puffed marshmallows are peppermint flavored for this massive Geek Cuisine. Andy, Justin, Richard and Nick join us for this festive fluff confection! The gang shares some of their favorite Christmas sweets!

Feeling a little guilty nostalgia, Glenn shares a very animated Guilty Pleasure this week! He shows off his collection of Saturday Morning Cartoons dvds. Sets from each decade feature some of the most popular shows we used to get up early for! Thundar the Barbarian, Monchichis, The Hair Bear Bunch, Honk Kong Phooey, are just a small sampling of the great memories all in one place on these sets. What did you watch when you were a kid? Are they available on dvd? Let us know!

Okay, so those weren’t so Guilty. To make up for it, he shares the The King of Fighters, starring the talented Ray Park and the gorgeous Maggie Q. How can two stars like those be in something so bad? Is there anything redeeming? Listen and find out!

We listen to a voice mail about Death Valley on MTV, which describes it as a mixture of Cops and Day of the Dead. Thanks to Nuclear Bubble Wrap for their song, Disney Song, and to The Saturday B-Movie Reel Podcast for their promo!

After a very special introduction, we welcome you to Episode 300 of PodCulture!

We managed to survive the giddiness of 299, and sit down to record the tricentennial episode! Six years and countless fandoms later, we discuss how far we have come. Christina’s highlight, aside from hanging with the gang, has loved all the different tv shows she’s watched because of the show. Adam loved all of the Geek Cuisines and his walks on the culinary wild side. One of Glenn’s favorite things has been the great excuses to buy bad movies.

It’s been a while since a regular recording, but Glenn has been burning through his double XP for Modern Warfare. He and Carly (and Carly’s mom!) are all back to playing World of Warcraft. For his purchase, he is able to get Diablo 3 when it comes out. Adam has been enjoying his early access to Star Wars The Old Republic, because the time for betas has passed! He is back into running, and is now training for the Tough Mudder Competition. On the artistic flipside, one of Adam’s renders was used in a Battlestar ad on Facebook! Christina is playing Santa and crossing things off her list to buy and wrap for everyone. Brad is settling in nicely to his new job and enjoying the good similarities between this and the old.

Andy, Richard, Nick and Justin join the regular crew for a spectacular segment. Brad presents everyone with their own small Parsec Award for their support and contribution to the show over the years, both as co-hosts and friends. Thank you, guys! Nick describes what means the most to him within the podcast and Doctor Who.

Christina is quite happy to present her own Guilty Pleasure, and shares Fright Night. Not the beloved classic from 1985 that her mom spoiled her 8-year-old self with, but the 2011 remake with David Tennant as Peter Vincent (fearless vampire killer). Find out what worked, what didn’t, and what is leaving Christina in a puddle on the floor. Does it stand up to the original? We give it four fangs up!

Jones Soda may have let us down this year, but Taylor’s Tonic Holiday Fizz has stepped up to the plate to be our holiday sodas for Geek Cuisine! Cranberry Dream, Gingerbread House Sparkler, Candy Cane Shake and Eggnog Fizz, make up this festively fizzy segment. Find out which of our mega panel of hosts survives the taste testing, and which might spontaneously combust.

Thanks to The Great Luke Ski for his song It’s A Fanboy Christmas 3 and to The Type 40 Podcast for their promo! Special thanks to Brian from the British Invaders Podcast for his voicemail congratulating us on 300 episodes.

Most of all thanks to you, our listeners. Without each and every one of you, we’d just be friends, sitting in a room, talking about our geek lives. Thanks to your support and feedback, we’ve found shows, movies, games and music that have inspired us to even greater geek heights. It’s been an honor and a pleasure sharing with you what we do best, and we look forward to 300 more episodes. Cheers!

In geekest day, in nerdest night, no fandom shall escape our sight! Let all who worship boredom’s might, beware our power, PodCulture’s light!

Welcome to the long awaited, special Green Lantern episode of PodCulture! The Geek Corps welcomes Shane into the studio to share in this movie opening weekend show. Spoiler alert! We’re going to be discussing storylines, so if you wish to remains spoiler free, go see it and then come back!

Glenn opens the review with his vote that it was “really, really good”. Brad always sets the bar low on things like this, so he came out pleasantly surprised. Shane wasn’t let down, feeling it was faithful enough to the story while delivering great CGI. Glenn can’t see it dethroning Iron Man, but enjoyed it. Adam appreciated the Blake Lively eye candy, but the hard core Lantern geeks say she doesn’t physically fit the role of Carol. Not being steeped in Lantern lore, Adam still found it okay. He and Christina discuss the slowness of the plotline, despite its appeal to the masses. Everyone seems to agree on the fragmentation of the story, looking forward to the deleted scenes on the dvd. Shane mentions the cutting of the appearance of Jon Stewart in the film. Brad enjoyed the cameos by obscure Lanterns in the group scenes. After a false start by the theater, they all found the 3D cool. Glenn liked the glitch, being able to compare the two opening scenes. Thus far underwhelmed by 3D movies, Shane found this movie impressive. He understands the liberties taken in the story, including the central power battery being underground. After her crash course in Green Lantern with Rebirth and First Flight, Christina enjoyed it, especially as her first 3D movie. Brad and Shane went to the midnight showing and Brad found himself impressed. Brad is still not crazy about the costume, but the gang puts out their theories. The old school fans in the room still wish they would have included his white gloves. Christina eyed the steam punk power battery. The guys discuss the new hotness of Amanda Waller and Christina finds Paralax much like The Silence. In a girlie moment, she asks for a plushie Guardian. The guys discuss little in-jokes within the movie. Christina finds it cool that the Star Sapphire logo was on the side of Carol’s helmet. Glenn notices Lanterns that were mentioned in Emerald Knights. They debate on the portrayal of Tomar-Re, and Christina appreciates the intelligence of Carol. The gang compares bits to the Superman movies. Glenn and Adam mention the many ways they are promoting the film.

Brad opens the special Green Geek and Tell with the blu-ray of Green Lantern: Emerald Knights. He and Glenn tell how they entwined the six stories of Lanterns, making it feel like one cohesive story. The Browncoats in the room appreciate Nathan Fillion’s voice portrayal of Hal Jordan. Brad talks about the Green Lantern: Rise of the Manhunters games, both on DS and 360. While the former is less than acceptable, Brad finds the 360 version impressive for a movie tie-in. Shane regales us with his quest for the game and the suckage that was Kmart. Brad shows off the woeful instruction booklet in his as well as the cool 3D option for the game. Christina mentions the less than stellar Buffy tie-in games. Brad poses the question of what is the worst movie tie-in game out there.

In conclusion, the group discusses various nits they would pick. Adam laughs at Sinestro’s floating moustache part and Glenn can’t quite put his finger on what he would change. Shane would have done without Hector Hammond and would have picked a better villain. Christina might have done without Amanda Waller, but appreciates the backstory. Brad is convinced there was a scene missing in the film, after having seen the “post credit” scene. No matter what the big screen future of Green Lantern is, they all hope DC keeps making direct to dvd movies.

Thanks so much to Kirby Krackle for their song Ring Capacity and to Insane Ian for the song Hard Corps (Green Lantern’s Light).

In this episode we have awsome songs from three great artists:

Song #1 Nothin’ But a Geek Thang by Devo Spice (featuring Worm Quartet)

Song #2: The Super Epic Video Game Medley 2 by Insane Ian

Song #3: PX-75309 by Sci-Fried

Please be sure to vote for your favorite song from this episode in the poll on the website www.TheGeekSpin.com.

We also have a new segment “the geeky spin” that can be on any subject…could be serious sometimes……mostly not so much, but always from a geek’s perspective! This go around it is all about the good, the bad, and the ugly of translating superhero costumes from the page to the screen.

Plus we have a listener with a feedback/ geeky spin of their own. It is from Jenn who hails from The Dollhouse Podcast. MilkCartonTV, and The Seekercast. (and prob a bunch of other stuff I am forgetting) With her take on the Wonder Woman costume (and the reboot)

Listeners what do you guys think? Yay? Nay? Or just a nutty fanboy? Please let us know … call the voicemail line: (502) 233-7746 drop an email or send an MP3 file to TheGeekSpin@PodCulture.net

Thank you folks for sticking with The GeekSpin during the long hiatus, and stay tuned for more fun yet to come!

Welcome to Studio V where the crew breaks out the Zoom H4n and take over Adam’s place for a change in audio scenery!

The geek masses join to watch Frequenly Asked Questions About Time Travel, but quickly devolve into a myriad of topics. The PodCulture crew wishes to welcome Justin, Paula, Ace Kevin, Matt, and the podcasting puppy, Athena.

We begin with the guys discussing Star Wars: Force Unleashed in depth. They voice complaints and concerns as well as things that impressed them. They debate length of gameplay, voice actors, and storytelling. What Star Wars discussion would be complete without a round of how best to cook an Ewok? They theorize news of the future of the franchise.

They segue to from Indiana Jones to Captain America, and debate period hero movies and recycling Marvel actors. The guys discuss Zack Snyder and the upcoming Superman movie. Should they be remaking Wonder Woman, Hulk and Spiderman? Did they do Wolverine justice? They discuss Hugh Jackman and the character’s arc.

From the big screen to the small, the gang picks Caprica apart for better and worse. Does SyFy have it in for science fiction television with the hiatus tendencies? They debate whether or not shows like Ghost Hunters count as science fiction, and Adam and Christina sing the Ghostfacers song. Richard joins the group,

From British porn to Kevin Kline playing Houdini, we cover it all. Justin shares the genius of Sherlock and everyone is looking forward to the upcoming blu-ray release of Doctor Who. Paula does brilliant makeup and shares pictures of her Halloween creations. The creativity continues as they mull over winning hands in the game Apples To Apples.

Before they wind down to a close, they finally give a brief moment to Frequenly Asked Questions About Time Travel, starring Chris O’Dowd.

After a painfully colorful opening, we welcome you back, fearless listeners!

After a five year break in with the genre, Glenn has been playing City of Heroes: Going Rogue. In the vein of Fable, he will be able to skew his characters for good or evil. Adam has been on vacation, splitting his time between Halo Reach, building his helmet and taking scuba lessons. While he may not be white water rafting this year, he looks forward to caving soon. While Brad was away at Dragon*Con, Christina spent the week crafting and watching her favorite documentary channels.

We have a truly special show for you this week as Brad and Christina had the fantastic opportunity to see Marian Call in concert in Louisville. They share their interview with her between some their favorite tracks from her albums Got To Fly and Vanilla, including the title track, Vanilla, It’s Good To Have Jayne On Your Side, Dark Dark Eyes, I’ll Still Be a Geek After Nobody Thinks That It’s Chic (The Nerd Anthem), In The Black and Flying Feels Like. She discusses her 50 state tour, some of her favorite songs, and her plans for the next album and tour. Check this brilliant lady out at www.MarianCall.com

Back in the studio, it is nearly Halloween time and it is creeping into Geek Cuisine. We’ve got Blood Orange candy corn!

Thanks so much to The Signal and Marc Gunn’s Irish Celtic Music Podcast for their promos.

Welcome, friends to a special episode of PodCulture. 5 geeks, 4 kinds of root beer and a fantastic song pay tribute to Joe Murphy. (from Farpoint Media’s Kick-Ass Mystic Ninjas and Slice of SciFi) Joe lost his fight with Leiomyosarcoma on April 1, 2007. Joe was an instant friend to anyone who was lucky enough to meet him, and a constant joyful presence in the podcasting world. He is truly missed.

The group tries Nappa Valley root beer and A&W glass-bottled root beer before we sing along with Mason Rocket, by Beatnik Turtle. When we return, we try Maine Root Hand Crafted Root Beer and Clover Valley root beer.

A very cool thing happened awhile back. Jill from The Signal podcast contacted me and asked if I could record some of my thoughts of Firefly and Serenity for a series of mini-podcasts that they were going to be doing. This was to help promote the fact that The Signal was nominated for a Podcast Award and to encourage folk to vote for The Signal. Well I put some of my thoughts into words and sent them on their merry way to Jill. If you like…. feel free to download the the mini podcast I recorded from the link below, and PLEASE be sure to go and vote once each day for The Signal over at PodcastAwards.com

Christina even got in on the act too a bit as she was our no-so-silent audience. Since we got together via Skype to record the audio is a little rough, but we had a blast and were honored that the guys let us fill in for them while they were off doing other things. Head on over to Wingin’ It and check out show #69! Be sure to leave the guys a comment or two and let them know what you think. Who knows….maybe we’ll get the chance to do it again sometime.
