Adam opens TV and DVD talk with Star Trek The Original Series, remastered on Netflix. He has finally given in to Dharma and started watching Lost. Was it a victim of the writer’s strike as Christina theorizes? Brad compares Matthew Fox to the character from Mass Effect. You all, everybody loves Charlie. Dude, the love for Hurley continues, and nobody likes Kate, despite her hotness. Adam never got hooked on Fringe, but Brad and Christina are enjoying the complication of the series. Adam finds Bob’s Burgers deliciously funny and gives us a brief synopsis. Community is batting them out of the park lately and Adam gives us some of his favorite moments with Troy and Abed. The gang discusses Stephen Hawking’s cameos on Big Bang Theory and Star Trek.

Christina is still watching Locked Up:Extended Stay on Netflix. She and Brad have finished Voyager and she is bereft without Janeway. Brad admits that Voyager has gotten a bad rap over the years. Brad was a little upset with the turn of events on Eureka, but Christina is a little relieved. All of them are loving Game of Thrones and are constantly impressed with Peter Dinklage. Given the source material, none of them can see the series writers veering too much from the original stories. Christina loved the audiobooks read by Roy Dotrice.

Adam is watching Mad Men and while Brad is keen to pick up Christina Hendricks on blu-ray, Christina wants him to see if he likes it on Netflix first. Is it accessible to geeks? Let us know. Christina’s English friend confirms the odd enjoyability of Friday Night Lights. Castle’s Adam Baldwin cameo was loved by all, and Brad enjoyed the brief appearance of Ron Glass on Voyager. Brad and Christina started watching Lost Girl. Speaking of fairy tales, the pair are having a fun time with Once Upon A Time and Grimm. A wormhole leads Adam to discuss why Caprica didn’t work. Brad and Christina are happy Fringe got a last, albeit shorter, season.

Try the rainbow this Geek Cuisine with the mysterious Skittles Riddles! Are the sneaky sugar candies worth the wondering? Find out!

In closing, Christina asks for good things to watch on Netflix and looks forward to being able to laugh painlessly again. Adam entreats us to play good games and get outside. Brad refuses to go out while they’re working the construction across the street.

Welcome to PodCulture!

We three geeks are Glennless as he is off saving the city from crime. Christina has lost a gallbladder, gained a year in age and picked up a sickness since the gang recorded last. Adam has had his department on his shoulders lately while trying hard to keep up running. When he does have time, he is playing games, watching new shows and doing some photography. Brad has been on nurse duty, getting to take off a couple of days to look after Christina in her infirmity. He shares the adventure of his tax time this April. Christina tells the tale of she and her sister taking turns throwing each other under the family bus. We’re anticipating Glenn being swamped for The Kentucky Derby week, and the gang discusses some interesting points about this time of year.

Christina opens Game Talk with her addiction to Draw Something and Tiny Tower. Adam is late to the party, but he finally picked up Skyrim and loves it, hoping the Kinect functionality is ready soon. He gives us a brief synopsis of the game and cites many of his favorite aspects. Adam shares that Star Wars The Old Republic has had some great updates, including the Legacy system. He explains the rat ghoul plague and assorted new updates. Brad hasn’t had much time to play, but he has picked up two new games. The first is the slightly wonky Need for Speed The Run (which he calls Drive: The Game). The second is the adorable mix between Disney and Little Big Planet, the game Disney Universe.

Christina opens this Geek Cuisine with excitement over the new frozen yogurt place up the street. In the meantime, the gang hit up the local Sonic Drive-In restaurant for slushes. Christina chose a lemon cream slush, but laments her lack of chocolate. Brad chose watermelon cream and Adam decided on raspberry cream. Christina’s favorites in the past include orange chocolate cream, strawberry chocolate and lime cream with vanilla (tasting like her coconut lime verbena lotion smells).

Christina and Nick start off with talk of Star Trek and Con-goers and the various levels of fandom. They talk of the difference between appreciating and dressing up and going totally off the deep end.

Back from the break, Nick talks about Day o’ The Darleks and more about Jon Pertwee’s years. Christina mentions some notes in Elisabeth Sladen’s autobiography. Nick talks about the dinosaurs in Invasion of The Dinosaurs and other stories, including Planet of the Spiders.

Nick mentions Pertwee’s regeneration scene, which leads he and Richard to discuss who had the most moving exit. Nick discusses what he considers to be “The Golden Years” of Doctor Who. Christina appreciates that Lis didn’t bank on the show lasting forever.

Nick talks about the relationship between Sarah Jane and the Third and Fourth Doctors. He and Richard discuss longevity in Doctors versus companions. They note several entrances and exits of companions over the decades.

In an unrelated conclusion, Nick recites an ode to his linen-lined Xanadu and the importance of naps.

Thanks to the brilliant band, Chameleon Circuit, for their song, “Type 40”. Gratitude to The Type 40 Podcast for their promo!

Welcome back for another helping of PodCulture!

What do you get when you combine localized post-apocalyptic zombies with some bad, synth-heavy music plus rejects from both The Misfits AND Kiss? You get Guilty as Glenn shares Battle Girl: The Living Dead in Toyko Bay! The gang briefly debates dubbed vs. subbed and Adam talks about his quick-footed corpse portrayal in the 5K Zombie Survival Run.

Geek Cuisine has great potential with Uncrystalized Candied Ginger from Trader Joe’s. From sounding brilliant to tasting like band aids, they are unanimous in their horrified disgust.

Glenn opens Tech Talk this week with the keyboard attachment for his Transformer Prime. Everyone admires the sleekness of the design, and Glenn especially loves the symbiotic battery sharing between the keyboard and the tablet. Adam has inherited a Panasonic Toughbook from his sister’s workplace, after they upgraded systems. He is having fun with the durability and the sheer novelty of it. Brad has had to do some audio upgrading after the sub-woofer became a casualty of rearranging shelves and now The PodCulture Theater audience is now listening to a new set of Polkaudio speakers. When he hasn’t been plotting to upset the neighbors with the new volume, he has been playing with new roms for his tablet. She may not have anything geek tech this week, but Christina will be better prepared for the zombie apocalypse with her new swanky crank radio/cell phone charger. More off-world than real-world tech, Brad talks about the Malcolm Reynolds replica pistol from Quantum Mechanix newly protecting the curio cabinet.

In closing, Christina asks for music recommendations. Glenn is finishing James Rollins’ “Last Oracle” and is reading Avengers Vs. X-Men. Christina is enjoying The Walking Dead app for her phone as well as Draw Something. Adam wants us to enjoy the spring weather despite allergies and frost warnings. Brad is looking for good games to play, so call the voice mail line and let us know!

Promo for this episode is for The Parsec Awards! Head over to www.ParsecAwards.com between April 15th and June 1st 2012 and nominate your favorite podcast!

Special musical guests for this episode are Sci-Fried with their song Star Wars Idiot and Steve Goodie with F U R2D2.

Adam opens with what’s been keeping him on his toes lately, including the Festival of American Undead Theater. When he wasn’t making props for zombies, he was catching up on geekdom and getting back in the swing of his workouts. Everyone is suffering the effects of March Madness, but not in the way most of their neighbors were, and Glenn had to fly to cover the riots in Lexington. Christina hasn’t been up to much, but she and Brad made a pilgrimage to Ikea on St. Patrick’s Day. In moving around the new shelves, Brad’s sub woofer had an unfortunate accident, but he perseveres. Glenn is proud that he listened to the April Fool’s Day episode, and Adam enjoyed Beatnik Turtle’s extended theme song. Brad takes a moment to mention a friend that the podcasting world lost.

Christina opens TV and DVD talk gushing about New Girl. She is getting riled up talking about the show Locked Up that she found on Netflix. Glenn isn’t quite caught up on Alcatraz, and despite dropping ratings, everyone hopes they keep it around. Glenn is also getting in to Awake, and is keeping his fingers crossed for its future.

Everyone takes a moment to talk about the finale of Walking Dead. If you haven’t seen it, you might want to turn back! The guys are happy to see appearance of Michonne. Christina is excited to have David Morrissey as The Governor, but Brad doubts his chops. Carl gets on everyone’s nerves.

They are all watching Grimm and really enjoying the twisted turns the stories take. Glenn is appreciating Monster Man, despite the “reality show” forced drama. Christina misses The Deadliest Warrior, but the boys hated the video game. Adam finished Farscape but was unimpressed by the ending. He has also picked Star Trek TOS back up. He is thrilled that Mad Men and Community are back, and everyone welcomed Game of Thrones back with open arms.

Brad and Christina are working their way through Voyager, and Christina already mourns the coming end. The boys try to console her with Julian Bashir and Dax. The talk of pixie-cut women leads them to Once Upon A Time with the diminutive Mary Margaret. The pair give a spoiler free moment to Being Human US. They feel the UK series reinvented itself well, and Christina especially likes the new cast members. Glenn laments the hiatus for Vampire Diaries and Secret Circle. Everyone is glad Alphas is coming back and Christina squees to find out Haven is coming back. Brad finds the upcoming swan song season of Eureka bittersweet. They all love Justified and are consistently amazed by the coolness of Boyd Crowder. Back to Game of Thrones, Christina is so proud of her parents for mainlining the first season.

Brad and Christina have finally watched The Muppets and they both just absolutely loved it. Truly chicken soup for the soul. On the other side of the Street, Adam talks about watching Kevin Clash’s documentary, Being Elmo. Christina has finally found Tale of The Bunny Picnic to watch.

Brad is hoping Hawaii Five-O comes back soon, and Christina is mildly annoyed at the angst on Castle.

Geek Cuisine this week is Mike’s Harder Blueberry Lemonade. Do drinking and podcasting mix? Will the gang survive it? Listen and find out!

Welcome, Time Lords and Ladies!

Nick has assigned us the homework of The Caves of Androzani, which was recently re-released with new extras. He and Richard give us the rundown of the advent of Peter Davison’s tenure, and how he came to inhabit the TARDIS. He explains the overlap in companions, this time being Tegan and Adric. The pair discuss the device of having multiple companions and plot entanglements with props. The gang muses on what makes Peter Davison special as a Doctor. Christina’s theory is his screen versus theatrical method of acting.

Back from the break, Nick gives us a synopsis of Caves of Androzani. The Doctor sacrifices himself for the life of Perri, and they take a moment to list of regeneration causes thus far. The professors speak to the solid Davison stories, having very few complaints. Each takes a moment to talk about the 180 turnaround between Five and Six and how they treat companions. The 5th Doctor had his share of varied sets and monsters and the guys mention some of their favorites. Christina really enjoyed Black Orchid because of the use of the earthbound time travel story about human monsters. Going from the good to the bad, they touch on the villains that Davison’s Doctor has faced.

Geek Cuisine is sweeter on the inside as we sample Hostess Chocolate Cream Twinkies!

Adam joins us for a bit, and reviews the Kentucky Authors Forum presentation of Dr. Michio Kaku. He and his brother got to experience the theoretical physicist and co-founder of String Theory. Although he had seats in the overflow theater, the main auditorium having sold out, Adam was thrilled when Mr. Kaku took time to come to his theater to speak for a while. We talk about favorite scientists in popular culture and on tv shows. Who’s your favorite science icon? Let us know!

Christina and Justin open a second can of TV and DVD talk with Downton Abbey. Christina loves the flawed characters and wants to be Mrs. Hughes. Justin is happy that it is cleaning up at awards shows. Justin is enjoying Awake and give us a brief synopsis, while Glenn is recording it to watch once he’s caught up on other things. Justin is the lone geek in the room watching Psych, and he continues on to Misfits. While Brad and Christina started watching the latter, they had a harder time getting in to it. Christina takes a moment to talk about the Linehan Triangle, making the connection between IT Crowd, Father Ted and Black Books. The gang discusses the importance of time slot with regard to new shows. Justin is loving the little animated shorts promoting the return of Community. Brad has sold Justin his copy of the seasons of Farscape and everyone can’t wait for him to be sucked in. Justin takes a moment to talk about Being Elmo, the documentary about his puppeteer, Kevin Clash. Glenn talks about the mockumentary, American Zombie on Netflix. Speaking of the streaming media giant, Christina has watched The Captains, the documentary by William Shatner. Justin shares his Avery Brooks story.

Adam is back just for a moment, to share Geek Cuisine! We’re unwrapping Birthday Cake Oreos! It looks like all of our wishes came true!

In closing, Justin says to go out and do something fun! Christina wants good audiobook and Netflix recommendations. Glenn is excited for the upcoming movies, including Avengers and Spiderman, as well as upcoming conventions. See what is coming near to you! The entire crew asks the listeners to send prayers and good vibes to the victims of the recent tornado outbreak, and if they can find it in their hearts (figuratively or literally) to donate in some form to The Red Cross.

Welcome back! Still Adamless for most of the show, Justin is happy to be on his end of the couch. Christina talks about ants on a log, and weirds Brad out.

Speaking of odd health food, Christina supplies the Geek Cuisine this week. Adam is back just in time to as she shares her WhoNu chocolate sandwich cookies. While Christina enjoys them, the guys can’t figure out what the weird after taste is.

Get ready for a marathon tv and dvd talk. We open with the bad news that Terra Nova has been cancelled. We theorize and ponder about what other network or venue could pick it up. Brad segues into the series that will be the spinoff of Primeval, including Niall Matter from Eureka in the cast. Speaking of weird casting, they weigh in on how they feel about Ben Browder on Doctor Who. In family matters, Christina notes the cool pairing up of Mark Sheppard and his dad on Doctor Who, and recently, seeing James Caan work with Scott on Hawaii Five-O. Glenn is watching Alcatraz and it opens the floor for discussing the show. Christina has the theory that she could easily see Fringe and Alcatraz cross over at some point. Glenn laments the convergence of a lot of shows he loves on Friday nights, including Grimm, Supernatural and Fringe. We fear for Grimm, given that Amy Acker was a guest. The group goes south as we investigate Justified, including our favorite characters, Kentuckian authenticity and the duplicity of villains. Glenn is enjoying the recent Face Off on Syfy, and Christina is happy to have finally seen an episode. He is looking forward to Monster Man, the movie monster creation show.

Spoiler Alert! If you aren’t caught up with The Walking Dead up until and including “Judge, Jury and Executioner, airing on March 9th , you might want to run away. We’re going to discuss the gory details! Justin talks about Jeffrey DeMunn and Frank Darabont and why he thinks Jeffrey made the decision he did. On a broad scope, they debate the merits of coming into a “based on” kind of series clean, with no prior knowledge, or to have been steeped in the source material. Are the expectations worth the disappointments when they verge from the original plots? Justin and Christina make the point that despite the outwardly genre appearance of the show, it appeals to so many people. Justin brings up that some critics complain of slowness this season, and Christina points out that tension is often stronger when it comes from within. They all admire the insanity of Shane’s character. Brad is looking forward to reading The Rise of The Governor, and Christina is hoping to listen to the audio book.

Adam returns for one more sweet Geek Cuisine for this episode. He shares Charms Fluffy Stuff sour apple cotton candy. Dear listeners, we can firmly say that this is probably one of the favorite Geek Cuisines. EVER.

Thank you to The Type 40 Podcast for their promo and to Power Salad for their song, “Charlie Sheen”.

Glenn is back but we have lost an Adam for a couple of weeks. Justin has graciously offered to step in to the role while he’s gone.

Glenn opens by talking about the massive damage to Indiana and Kentucky because of the recent tornado outbreak. Brad entreats the listeners to send prayers and good vibes to the victims, and if they can find it in their hearts (figuratively or literally) to donate in some form to The Red Cross. Glenn picked up Gotham City Imposters on the Xbox and he shares some of the cool and quirky perks. Justin has been working hard and when he finds down time he is playing Skyrim. He has decided to run with Adam in the Rugged Maniac marathon in the fall.

Christina finally chose her free Audible Trial book download, and has been watching new shows and revisiting some old favorites. She is addicted to a new game on her phone, and had a great time visiting Cleveland. Her sister got lots of use out of her Zoom H1. She tells the tale of entertaining strangers at the store, and shares how she feels about International Women’s Day.

Brad has moved in to a new building at work and is enjoying the shiny new everything. At home he is loving his PS Vita.

Combining books and games, Glenn opens by telling us about the first e-book he has purchased, James Rollins’ book, Altar of Eden. Loving his tablet, he is happy to share that Marvel will be packaging digital download codes in their comics for $3.99. He takes a moment to update us on his tablet and the apps he’s been playing with. Indulging himself after long weeks of crazy hours, he bought the 3D housing apparatus for his Go Pro camera. Following Steve Niles on Twitter, Glenn heard about the graphic novel Mystery Society. Also, he bought Dave Stevens: The Complete Sketchbook Collection and takes a moment to speak about the late artist.

Justin shares his Skyrim experience with us, including a little bit of story synopsis, game play, favorite tricks and moments. His one complaint is the AI for the followers, and admits to enjoying one of the glitches in the game. Brad wishes there would be another Fantasy Star Online game, and Christina’s interest is piqued by the character creation mode. Justin takes a moment to talk about the new Assassins Creed game, but can’t see himself leaving the Skyrim universe just yet.

Brad and Christina thank Nick for sending them Mass Effect 1 & 2 as well as Alan Wake. Your kindness and generosity continue to amaze, Nick! They segue through platform types and have high hopes for Bioshock Infinite.

Christina is playing Tiny Tower on her phone, addicted now, since she downloaded it because it was from the same company that brought her old favorite Monster Ranger to Android. In books, she has listened to Elisabeth Sladen’s autobiography read by Caroline John. Brad bought the hardcover version and was surprised to see his family name in the acknowledgements.

Geek Cuisine brings Adam back, but he probably wishes he hadn’t shown up. We share Cinnabon Candy Canes and we are unanimous in our reactions.

Thanks to The Signal for their promo this week! and special musical guest Possible Oscar with their song “Get Our Geek On”

Welcome back!

Glenn is still out this week and Andy joins the remaining PodCulture crew and Brad lets us know that Andy has his own PodCulture e-mail address now!

Geek Cuisine if chocolate covered happiness in the form of Fudge Covered Golden Oreos. The chocolate may be annoyingly melty on these fancy cookies. Andy is reminded of Girl Scout Tagalongs. Adam agrees that they would be better frozen in the Koala Fridge, but everyone loves them as they are in the meantime.

Andy loads up his Movies app on his Evo and we decide to do a rapid fire movie pre-review. Are we looking forward to seeing it, have no intention of doing so, or just scratching our heads that someone paid to make it, let alone see it? This Means War gets a thumbs up and Ghost Rider 2 gets appreciation for CGI in the first one, but nobody wants to see it. Let Bullets Fly and John Carter pique our interest. Seeking Justice and The White Queen get questionable hope. The “never” pile includes Project X and 21 Jump Street. March brings the much anticipated Hunger Games and the worrisome Wrath of the Titans. The hockey flick Goon warrants a maybe. Reviews are mixed for Three Stooges, but the Whedon-made Cabin In The Woods will see Brad there. May will bring The Avengers and the whole studio will be there, but Christina and Adam might be the only ones to see Battleship. We’re not sure about Men In Black 3. June brings Snow White And The Huntsman and Christina is thrilled to be seeing Abraham Lincoln Vampire Hunter. We are all worried about GI Joe 2, despite the stars and it’s groans around the room for Spider Man. July is Independence Day for The Dark Night Rises and we’re all looking forward to it. The Bourne Legacy infuses new blood into the franchise while Total Recall gets a reboot. Apprehension abounds for Expendables 2 and the conclusion of the Twilight Saga. Everyone is absolutely gushing to see The Hobbit as the year of new movies draws to a close. Christina is thrilled about the Les Miserables movie musical coming at the end of the year and Brad is upset by Superman’s new costume. By no means a comprehensive list, let us know what we’ve missed and what you’re looking forward to!

In upcoming television, winter is coming and so is Game of Thrones. We theorize about the expensive storylines to come and everyone is looking forward to it. We gloss over books that have become movies and whether they should be on the big screen or the small.

In closing, Christina throws the question out for the listeners around the Valentine’s Day season as to who your favorite sci-fi couple is? Christina votes Mulder/Scully, Fred/Wesley or Bill/Laura. Brad chooses Mal and Inara, and Andy lists off a few of his favorites as well, including Delen and Sheridan and The Doctor and The TARDIS. Adam is going to see Michio Kaku speak in Louisville, sponsored by The Kentucky Author’s Forum. He also talks about the podcast by Neil Degrasse Tyson called Star Talk. Andy wants us to read something good, while he himself is on a speculative history kick. Brad suggests the new Stephen King book 11/22/63 for him. Brad says to listen to a good soundtrack, and they discuss Soul Calibur 5’s, and Andy is enjoying the music in Star Wars The Old Republic.

Thanks to The British Invaders Podcast for their promo! Our music this week includes Moneyshot Cosmonaut with “If I Could Be Weird Al” and Robert Lund with “Here I Am With President Romney”.

Christina is completely hooked on Downton Abbey and has a few choice words for the uppity historians who are taking it too seriously. She, Adam and Andy discuss Stephen Fry In America, and Mr. Fry’s unabashed reviews of certain cities. Christina is still watching and loving New Girl, but admits to fast forwarding through The Finn and Rachel Show of Glee. She admits to starting to re-watch Upstairs Downstairs on Netflix. Andy has been tutoring his son in the Universe-ity of Star Trek, and admits to watching Glee as well. The pair went to see Red Tails and thoroughly enjoyed the flight sequences, despite the weak story. His in-laws took Andy and his wife to see Chronicle. He gives a brief overview of what he calls “The Blair Witch Spiderman Project”. Christina mentions book to film translations and is looking forward to Extremely Loud and Incredibly Close. Adam is watching Star Trek Voyager and Farscape, comparing Ben Browder and Claudia Black to their Stargate counterparts. He is caught up on Supernatural, and the gang skirts around the bad thing that happened. They theorize on characters coming back before the series finale, and contemplate yet another season. Brad and Christina take a moment for the finale of Chuck, and Christina was thrilled there was a second part to the last episode. She was proud she spotted Robert Duncan McNeill in the helicopter with Casey. The pair have started watching The River, and Christina is pretty taken with it. They’re not sure how it will last, but they’re hoping it will. Speaking of J.J. Abrams, the pair are enjoying Alcatraz with the adorable Jorge Garcia and stoic Sam Neill. Law and Order UK is still on the docket and the pair discuss the cast changes. Being Human UK is back with a fiery vengeance and its American counterpart is going a completely different direction. Christina takes a moment to discuss Dichen Lachman. Grimm may not be stellar, brilliant art, but worth watching nonetheless. The eye candy of Hawaii Five-O continues, and helps to fill in the gaps of other shows dying off for the season. From dying off to the Walking Dead, everyone is excited for it to come back. Justified continues to scare Kentuckians. Christina is quite happy to keep plugging along through Star Trek, while Brad is excited to pick up the blu-ray preview disc of Star Trek The Next Level. Adam’s brother screened it at a guys’ night, and gives it a glowing review. Brad anticipates laying down a chunk of change when the season comes out. Christina and Brad found a great sale on Amazon and got the complete Farscape and Stargate Atlantis on blu-ray. We shift to discussing Angel and the merit of the character on his own show versus Buffy. Phantom devotee that she is, Christina got the 25th Anniversary blu-ray from Brad and is loving it!

For Geek Cuisine, it melts in your mouth, not on your mic. We share Cinnamon M&Ms. Christina asks for people who remember Chris Kattan’s Goth Talk/Azrael Abyss sketches on Saturday Night Live.

Welcome Geeklings! Andy sits in for Glenn this week. He is exploring career options and distracting himself with geeky toys when he can get his family off the game systems. Glenn’s gamer tag popped on while the crew was eating dinner before recording and Andy shares that he and Glenn have played Modern Warfare 3. Adam laments that no one is playing Battlefield 3 with him. Brad and Adam discuss tactics in Halo, since Brad’s little sister is wanting to play. Adam has been working hard at both art and athletics, developing some CGI and some endurance for his Touch Mudder race. He tells some of the obstacles in the competition, including ice baths and electric lines. To gear up, he’s doing the Rugged Maniac and the Bourbon Chase. When he’s not running, he’s been on with Farscape, Star Trek Voyager and Stephen Fry In America. He is also still happily enthralled with Star Wars The Old Republic, having turned a Jedi to the Dark Side. Christina is caught up on, and addicted to, Downton Abbey. She had a great time painting with Dezetta and friends, and can’t wait to go back. Brad is settling in at work and shares the note that was left on the car by some Whovian fans. Andy looks forward to decals from Decal Mike on a new car.

Christina opens Game Talk with Bloons TD 4 by Ninja Kiwi for her iPhone. The gang sells Andy on the Amazon app of the day. Brad talks about his Nook Tablet and the MMO Pocket Legends. Adam has been playing the expansion for Battlefield 3, including Wake Island. He is most proud of his fallen Jedi companion in Star Wars The Old Republic. The game builders are listening to the players and have a Guild Summit to gather information. Andy is disappointed that his friends who play are scattered across so many servers. They discuss the brilliant story lines and the engaging voice acting. Andy is impressed, but going back to his Neverwinter Nights days, he hasn’t seen anything groundbreaking yet. He and Adam compare leveling and character paths. Andy laments the sad computer he has, and the guys try to fix him up. Brad has been playing a little more Dragon Age 2, and picked up Soul Calibur 5 in the collector pack with extra goodies. They debate character customization and the benefit of the family pack on Xbox Live.

Geek Cuisine is sweet and sour with Jolly Rancher Crunch and Chew candies.

Nick shares the announcement that the Powers That Be found two lost episodes, episode 3 of Galaxy Four and episode 2 of Underwater Menace. These lost gems are being restored and Nick is looking forward to seeing the Chumblies and other missing moments. He lets us know that 2 Entertain plans to release them sometime this year, and lists off other missing stories for each Doctor. Christina is happy to hear about the Ace box set, and Nick mentions the differences in various box sets on each side of the pond. He shares the tale of a lost story and how the restoration team went to great lengths to colorize, and how the dvd contains both versions of the episode. The dvd of Planet of The Daleks on the Dalek Wars set contains a documentary on restoration. Brad compares it to the brilliant featurette on the Wizard of Oz dvd.

Our musical interlude includes “I Am The Doctor” by Devo Spice!

Nick kicks off our Whovian Geek and Tell with tales of his trip to WhoNa.com headquarters. He picked up a Bump And Go Cybermat from the Closing Time episode. Also from the new line of busts from Titan, including Captain Jack Harkness and the blule-tied 11th Doctor. He’s hoping for the John Simm Master and Leela. From the same company are brilliant Dracula and Star Trek busts as well. Biff Bang Pow sells cloth retro figures, including the 4th Doctor, and Nick is happy to partake. He is sporting his new John Pertwee t-shirt from Red Bubble, entitled Three. Character Options has dropped a whole lot of new action figures, including the Caves of Adrozani set and the Enemies of the 3rd Doctor set, among more.

Richard was in stark contrast and didn’t get any Whovian goodies, but tells the cautionary tale of shooting his airsoft gun indoors.

Andy decided to research his favorite companion for Christmas, and spent the holiday finding stories with his explosive Ace. In other genres, his son is loving Star Wars The Old Republic.

Christina shares about the gorgeous Doctor Who sleep pants from Elizabeth and Spoonflower.com. Brad, in a post-Christmas sale, picked up a pair of adorable stress Adipose toys. Also, he found her an Amelia Pond action figure. For Christmas itself, Brad gave Christina a fantastic Christopher Eccleston autograph.

Brad received from Christina a copy of King Lear with Sir Ian McKellan and Sylvester McCoy featuring the spoons. She gave him two prequel novels to Torchwood Miracle Day, including First Born and Long Time Dead. She found him a Wizard of Oz/Doctor Who crossover t-shirt, and both of them a snow Dalek shirt. Continuing the tradition of autographs, Christina got him a photo of Galifrey’s cutest couple, including a Georgia Moffett autograph. To round out prezzies, Christina got Brad The Special Edition of Doctor Who Monopoly.

Nick shares The Flesh Goo Pod with random Ganger Doctor figure parts. Christina finds the Flesh therapeutic and Nick regales the adventure of collecting all five Doctor parts. He shares the difficulty in finding certain figures. Brad shows off his Life Size TARDIS in the living room, and the guys debate their Geek Museums. Nick shares how his wife has degrees of geekdom, and what can and can’t be out in public view. Richard goes off the rails at this point, while Nick and Christina are determined to keep control.

Let us know if you got any good swag for the holiday season, or if there’s some shiny that you just have to have!

Nick opens with a summary of the Christmas episode of Doctor Who, The Doctor, The Widow and The Wardrobe. The gang discusses the themes of parenthood within this past series of Who. Richard labels it science comedy, while he and Nick trace the overuse of the sonic screwdriver. Richard says the Narnia-esque story “almost” works, but finds the used story less than stellar. Andy found the mother stereotypical, and caught many of the things reminiscent of other stories and images. He admits to preferring previous Christmas episodes. Nick found it both enjoyable but unremarkable, picking The End of Time as his least favorite Christmas story. He longs for the days when The Doctor himself was the hero, and asks us to count back the episodes. Nick has his Rose-colored glasses firmly in place and we ask if it’s possible for fans of any show to be totally objective. Is it better to be overtly Christmassy, or should the episode just have vague elements of the holiday? Christina loved the character of the mom and the few touching moments spread within. Finding that the monsters less suspenseful than they could or should have been and that was the moment the episode lost her. She was, however, thrilled to see Whovian Bill Bailey in the cast. Brad holds the Narnia Chronicles dear to him, so was apprehensive about the episode. Christina breaks them up for a moment to admire the Nicholas Courtney and Elisabeth Sladen poster above her desk. Brad likens the attempt by the mother to soften the blow of their father’s death to an episode of MASH.

Adam stops in to share his views this segment. Although he enjoyed moments and characters, overall he finds it less than the sum of its parts. Despite being the adventurer he is, he wasn’t as impressed with the environmental message as he could have been. He did love the tour of the house as well as the moving moment describing happiness now verses sadness in the future. Overall, he doesn’t think the kids and tree creatures could beat the flying sharks and Dumbledore of last year. Brad shares a sad moment involving Alexander Armstrong and what could have been.

For Geek Cuisine, McVities Ginger Nuts cookies. Christina may have to give the boys a smackdown to get through the segment, but everybody enjoys the cookies.

Winding down by winding it up, we discuss the appearance of Mr. and Mrs. Pond at the end of the episode. Nick makes an observation about companions who have either witnessed different Doctors, or caught up with them after time had passed. Would Amy treat another regeneration of the Timelord differently? Do all the companions prepare for a visit the way Rory and The Brigadier have? They debate portrayal of the character and ask if time would have changed the time travelers.

In closing, Brad reads an e-mail from Billy in defense of Amy in The Girl Who Waited. They respond to his points about Amy’s bitterness toward the Doctor, whether he was careless or whether she was justified.

Christina is Player 1 for this Game Talk. She is addicted to Bloons TD by Ninja Kiwi on both her phone and on the PC. She’s also playing Disney’s Where’s My Water and compares the cute factor to Cut The Rope. Adam tells about the adorable Om Nom plush for his sister-in-law for Christmas. Adam is playing Star Wars The Old Republic, finally reveling in the mass release. He tells about why it’s so good, and the happiness he has at having no Gungans in the game. He goes into the various classes and characters as well as modes of play. Everyone is glad for the amazingly smooth launch and additional content pack released. Adam got the Collector’s Edition and shares the list of all the cool swag it comes with. Brad was enjoying the DC Universe Online holiday content, and shares how bad the server slam was when it went free to play. In the meantime he’s enjoying the Star Trek Online retired captain early access to the newly free-to-play game. He and Adam mention the new tweaks and upgraded graphics. Brad is playing Dragon Age 2 and loving the spazziness of Eve Myles’ character, and still prefers it to Skyrim.

Glenn returns just in time for the second Geek Cuisine! We twist Triple Double Neopolitan Oreos. There might be a fight over who gets to keep these thrice delicious cookies.

In close, Adam has been staying up late being wound up from exercise. Christina wants you to watch Stephen Fry In American if you can find it. Adam wants you to watch Sherlock if it’s too cold to get outside, or even just plan an adventure. Brad wants you to stay in, keep warm and play games!

Glenn opens this week’s Tech Talk with his new phone, an HTC Amaze 4G from T-Mobile. He and Carly both have the new shiny in their new D30 cases. It’s his first Android phone and agrees that it doesn’t take long to get used to. He and Adam go over specs. Christina is jealous of the wi-fi calling update, and Glenn loves the 8MP camera. Brad takes a moment to talk about SOPA and his domain hosting. Adam inquires about battery life on the Amaze and Glenn has been impressed thus far. He mentions having his Marvel Comic app and Brad suggests the Comicat app.

If his new phone isn’t cool enough, Glenn has brought his Asus Transformer Prime tablet to show off! Christened with the Captain America live Wallpaper, everyone loves the sleekness of the design. Glenn tells the epic tale of hunting down his tablet and the minor disappointment of the updated release. Brad is happy with the new options with his Nook tablet. Glenn gives the example of the video power with Shadow Gun from Mad Finger Games. Brad and Christina discuss how great it would have been carrying one in school. Wows all around from the quartet of geeks!

Glenn gave Carly a Kindle Fire for Christmas and takes a moment to talk about her opinions and favorites. Adam mentions the Asus EeePad Memo. Christina marvels at the leaps and bounds in technology recently and the guys respond with the tech on sci-fi shows. All Adam wants is a hover board. Glenn shares that Hasbro isn’t pleased with the naming of his tablet. The camera perks on his Transformer Prime freak everyone out.

Adam has brought Zachary’s Raspberry Thin Mints for our second Geek Cuisine! Raspberry, mint and dark chocolate. How can we go wrong? Christina discusses her worries for the fate of her favorite Hostess treats.

Glenn won’t be with us this whole episode, since he has been flying crazy hours over the frozen Bluegrass State. He is glad shows are coming back from winter break, including Vampire Diaries and Fringe. Everyone anticipating the constellation of stars in The Avengers movie. Brad opens the floor for Christmas swag with the not-so-life-sized TARDIS in the living room, as well as Doctor Who Monopoly from Christina. Christina got a Zoom from Brad and Doctor Who sleep pants from Elizabeth and Spoonflower.com. Adam is working out like a madman in preparation for his Tough Mudder race. When he’s not exhausted, Star Wars The Old Republic is his time has been spent. He has loved his nephew’s first Christmas and tells of his family’s holiday adventure. Christina and Brad went up to her family in Cleveland for Christmas this year, and she loved being with her siblings, despite her sister’s bad music choices. Christina gave Brad Stargate Universe on blu-ray as well as the blue koala from Squishables.com He gets wicked with Out of Oz from Christina. He teases us with a plotline from the Torchwood books that were the prequel to Miracle Day. His mom gave him the traditional Stephen King book this year, 11/22/63, and gives us an overview of the story. Glenn has finally picked up Arkham Asylum and is back to playing World of Warcraft. Carly gave him in-game gear for Christmas and he returned the geek love with a Moonkin. His mom gave him extra mounts for his GoPro 2. From Glenn’s dad he got a cookie tin of ammo and he gave Carly her first shotgun . Christina gave Brad Dragon Age 2, because of Eve Myles as a voice actress in the game. Christina was pleased, since they’re watching Voyager now, that Kate Mulgrew is in it as well.

Winter is the perfect time to catch up on TV and DVD. Adam opens with Sherlock. The trio discusses the characters, the relationship with Mrs. Hudson and the deer stalker hat. Brad and Christina notice comparisons to the 7th Doctor. Switching to movies, Adam has seen and enjoyed Mission Impossible. He also saw Sherlock Holmes: Game of Shadows, and while he liked it, he found the first movie superior. That said, though, he did love the cinematography. Back to the tv series, Christina loves the way you are visually shown the texts and thought processes. Adam and Christina promise to watch Downton Abbey. The thought leads to Community, which Adam is happy to announce will be coming back. They briefly touch on the Doctor Who Christmas special and how each felt about the show. Brad mentions Alexander Armstrong (aka Mr. Smith on Sarah Jane Adventures). Brad and Christina talk about watching Star Trek Voyager, and Christina is greatly enjoying the character of Kathryn Janeway. The pair have also caught the continuation of Law and Order UK, having had a cliffhanger not turn out like they’d hoped. Castle is back, too, much to their happiness. Everyone enjoyed Terra Nova, and although it may not be their favorite show, they do hope it comes back. Brad has found the Nerf gun that the weapons are made from and looks forward to painting it to match. They debate Being Human and liked Russel Tovey in Sherlock. Everyone is saddened by the loss of Doctor Who’s confidential. Christina loves the British actor crossover.

Geeks, prepare to be Cuisined! How do you make Oreos better? Cover them in chocolate! We enjoy Limited Edition White Fudge Covered Oreos.

Thanks to The Being Human Podcast for their promo and to Dino-Mike for his song Hymn for Sin.

Continuing from where in time and space we left off with our discussion on the second half of Series Six, we open with Closing Time. Adam loves Craig, played James Corden, as companion and Christina recommends Gavin and Stacy. Nick loves Gareth Roberts as a writer and everyone laughed at the Confidential. Christina objects to the one un-Doctor-ishness moment in the show. Justin and Adam have both named their nephews Stormageddon. Justin’s favorite part included The Doctor’s monologue to the baby. Nick gives a history of the Cybermats and the reappearance of Linda Barrett. He explains how he got into Who, not so many years ago, and Andy talks about his first experiences. Brad and Nick theorize about the evolution of Cybermen in our universe.

On to The Wedding Of River Song, Brad’s biggest complaint is the overt mention of the death of the Brigadier and no one anticipated Nick’s reaction to it. Half the Tardis Crew was annoyed by the hand binding ritual, while the others found it charming. Adam found it a weaker crescendo than some of the other finales. Christina enjoyed the dynamic between River and Amy at the end. The group discusses River’s plotline and what lies in store for the Doctor’s companions next year. Nick winds up the episode discussion with his feelings about the out they gave The Doctor as well as recovering after having gotten too Godlike.

The crew debates the merits of self-contained stories versus epic lengthy story arcs. Nick compares the forcing of information in Doctor Who to Star Trek Generations. Christina watches Rory and River as her character markers to follow throughout the season. Nick and Richard wish just a guy would be a companion. Justin says Rebel Flesh should have been midseason break and would have been a much more effective cliffhanger.

On the whole, everyone seems to have enjoyed the second half of the series better than the first, with only one or two notable exceptions. Justin fills us in on the plan for Christmas Day on BBC America, as well as The Nerdist Podcast.

Nick, Richard, Andy and Justin join Brad, Adam and Christina this week as the gang discusses the second half of Series Six!

They begin with Let’s Kill Hitler and delve into the regeneration of River Song. Nick’s only problem with the episode was the Doctor’s sonic cane. Adam notices the issue of the number of regenerations allowed and everyone weighs in. Justin talks about what he liked about Mels and Christina gives the female perspective on the lady timelord. The group touches on why they feel how they do about Matt Smith.

Moving on to Night Terrors, everyone is as impressed with Jamie Oram’s performance as they were creeped out by the dolls. Nick appreciates Mark Gatiss’ gift for dark storytelling. Christina shares that it was her mom’s first episode of Doctor Who. Brad compares his experience watching it at Dragon Con versus in his own apartment. Andy was touched by the father/son dynamic and compares it to the novel, The Road.

On to The Girl Who Waited, Nick speaks on his previous notions of Amy and her growth as a character, while Richard takes the counterpoint. Justin marks this as the episode he fell in love with Karen Gillan and Nick and Christina open the floor to commending Rory’s character. They discuss the enemy in this episode as well as the role the Doctor plays.

Next The God Complex touches on everyone’s fears. Christina was impressed with David Walliams’ character and Nick as a fan boy is happy with the mention of the old-school minotaur. Everyone is thrilled to see Amelia and the group mentions differences between Amy and her younger self. What do you think was in the Doctor’s room? Nick talks about how and why the Doctor leaves Amy and Christina laments the lack of closure between him and Rory. Finally, they discuss the wrapping up of the “finding the baby” storyline, and their theories about parenthood and time travel.

To start us off, Brad adds up the total hours of geekness over the past years. Everyone speaks on some of their favorite moments over the past 300 episodes.

We come back with some pre-holiday Geek and Tell! Glenn is excited about getting his first Android phone, the HTC Amaze. He mentions some of the cool camera features it has. Adam compares it to his Motorola Photon. Brad and Christina helped Brad’s step-mom pick a phone for his little sister, and settled on a Droid Incredible 2. Brad picked up his own piece of Android tech in a Nook Tablet and shares some of his favorite perks. Glenn is anticipating the Asus Transformer Prime. Instead of one for Carly, he bought her up a Kindle Fire.

Brad opens a very special package from Decal Mike, to be opened on our 300 episode. It is a giant, gorgeous decal to commemorate our anniversary. The shiny silver and gold decal is simply the finest present! Thank you!

The gang’s all back for a giant Geek Cuisine! Welcome back Andy, Nick, Richard and Justin! Christina provides the chocolatey goodness this week with Oreo Cookie Bark. She followed the recipe on the Nabisco website, so if it sounds good, go for it!

In closing, the crew discusses the things that have come and gone over the course of three hundred episodes. Glenn is looking forward to playing the new Battlefield 3 downloadable content, while Brad is excited about the Dead Island add-ons. Brad is apprehensively excited about the over-the-top Lollipop Chainsaw. Glenn shares a bit about the debate between he and Adam Baldwin on Twitter. Brad had a geek squad moment with Patricia Tallman in Tweets. Have you had a brush with someone famous on Twitter? Let us know! Adam entreats us all to have or plan an adventure and then play Star Wars The Old Republic. Christina wishes everyone a happy holiday season. Brad thanks the listeners for taking the time to listen to this quartet of quirk every week!

Our music this week includes One Damn Lane by Tony Goldmark and Arcade Gaming Shrine by Palette-Swap Ninja. Special thanks to The Critical Myth Podcast for their promo.

Glenn laments the fact that lots of the shows are on hiatus, but we’re all watching Grimm. He is glad the Powers That Be will be moving it, so it will no longer be up against Supernatural. Christina enjoys figuring out the literary counterparts to each episode. On the sunnier side of the storybook, they gang is enjoying Once Upon A Time. Still, the geek, Christina is playing “spot the Disney in-joke”. Brad is hoping Snow White gets better hair, but everyone is creeped out by Robert Carlisle. Adam has been watching Supernatural and Community. He is extremely nervous about the fate of his favorite band of students. Adam is also nearly finished with the unlikely favorite Friday Night Lights, and has finished up Homeland. He didn’t expect to enjoy Rise of The Planet Of The Apes as much as he did. Brad takes a moment to play Name That Tune with cheesy tv theme songs on his phone, while Glenn explains about Electro Woman and Dyna Girl. Christina and Glenn debate whether or not the tv-themeless trend is good. Christina is still loving New Girl. Her new love this week is Gareth Malone, after having watched Gareth Malone Goes To Glyndebourne. Brad is sad that Chuck’s stars have been tweeting their wrapping the series. They’re all still watching The Big Bang Theory, and have stuck their toes in the Thundercats litterbox. The parallels between Lost and Hawaii Five-O are made again. Terra Nova is growing on everyone. Tis the season for Christmas specials, and we loved sharing the season with Haven, Warehouse 13 and Eureka. Glenn is looking forward to Face Off returning, while Brad and Christina have enjoyed the preview episode of the new Green Lantern animated series. Adam helps Brad find the Nerf gun that the weapons from Terra Nova are based on.

Kraft Jet-Puffed marshmallows are peppermint flavored for this massive Geek Cuisine. Andy, Justin, Richard and Nick join us for this festive fluff confection! The gang shares some of their favorite Christmas sweets!

Feeling a little guilty nostalgia, Glenn shares a very animated Guilty Pleasure this week! He shows off his collection of Saturday Morning Cartoons dvds. Sets from each decade feature some of the most popular shows we used to get up early for! Thundar the Barbarian, Monchichis, The Hair Bear Bunch, Honk Kong Phooey, are just a small sampling of the great memories all in one place on these sets. What did you watch when you were a kid? Are they available on dvd? Let us know!

Okay, so those weren’t so Guilty. To make up for it, he shares the The King of Fighters, starring the talented Ray Park and the gorgeous Maggie Q. How can two stars like those be in something so bad? Is there anything redeeming? Listen and find out!

We listen to a voice mail about Death Valley on MTV, which describes it as a mixture of Cops and Day of the Dead. Thanks to Nuclear Bubble Wrap for their song, Disney Song, and to The Saturday B-Movie Reel Podcast for their promo!

After a very special introduction, we welcome you to Episode 300 of PodCulture!

We managed to survive the giddiness of 299, and sit down to record the tricentennial episode! Six years and countless fandoms later, we discuss how far we have come. Christina’s highlight, aside from hanging with the gang, has loved all the different tv shows she’s watched because of the show. Adam loved all of the Geek Cuisines and his walks on the culinary wild side. One of Glenn’s favorite things has been the great excuses to buy bad movies.

It’s been a while since a regular recording, but Glenn has been burning through his double XP for Modern Warfare. He and Carly (and Carly’s mom!) are all back to playing World of Warcraft. For his purchase, he is able to get Diablo 3 when it comes out. Adam has been enjoying his early access to Star Wars The Old Republic, because the time for betas has passed! He is back into running, and is now training for the Tough Mudder Competition. On the artistic flipside, one of Adam’s renders was used in a Battlestar ad on Facebook! Christina is playing Santa and crossing things off her list to buy and wrap for everyone. Brad is settling in nicely to his new job and enjoying the good similarities between this and the old.

Andy, Richard, Nick and Justin join the regular crew for a spectacular segment. Brad presents everyone with their own small Parsec Award for their support and contribution to the show over the years, both as co-hosts and friends. Thank you, guys! Nick describes what means the most to him within the podcast and Doctor Who.

Christina is quite happy to present her own Guilty Pleasure, and shares Fright Night. Not the beloved classic from 1985 that her mom spoiled her 8-year-old self with, but the 2011 remake with David Tennant as Peter Vincent (fearless vampire killer). Find out what worked, what didn’t, and what is leaving Christina in a puddle on the floor. Does it stand up to the original? We give it four fangs up!

Jones Soda may have let us down this year, but Taylor’s Tonic Holiday Fizz has stepped up to the plate to be our holiday sodas for Geek Cuisine! Cranberry Dream, Gingerbread House Sparkler, Candy Cane Shake and Eggnog Fizz, make up this festively fizzy segment. Find out which of our mega panel of hosts survives the taste testing, and which might spontaneously combust.

Thanks to The Great Luke Ski for his song It’s A Fanboy Christmas 3 and to The Type 40 Podcast for their promo! Special thanks to Brian from the British Invaders Podcast for his voicemail congratulating us on 300 episodes.

Most of all thanks to you, our listeners. Without each and every one of you, we’d just be friends, sitting in a room, talking about our geek lives. Thanks to your support and feedback, we’ve found shows, movies, games and music that have inspired us to even greater geek heights. It’s been an honor and a pleasure sharing with you what we do best, and we look forward to 300 more episodes. Cheers!
